Life beyond Lancaster Environment Centre
Orla completed her masters in Environmental and Biochemical Toxicology at Lancaster University, with the skills that she developed being essential to her current role within a chemical regulation company. However, Orla’s time at Lancaster also helped further her passion in film
David repaid Lancaster’s faith in him after achieving poor A-Level results, by going on to be a successful academic, now lecturing in water engineering and fluid mechanics at London South Bank University. Whilst at Lancaster, David also established himself firmly in both the squash team and Lancaster’s music scene over the five years that he spent at the university.
Ricardo’s particularly enjoyed the research environment at Lancaster University, with constant support from staff and friends made during his time in England, with his studies being furthered as a post-doctorate researcher at the University of Lisbon.
Max highlights the skills that he gained whilst studying BSc Geography at undergraduate and from his PgCert in Flood & Coastal Risk Management as fundamental to his current role as a hydraulic modeller. However, Max’s time at Lancaster also saw him develop as a person, making long-lasting friendships, with fond memories of international field-trips to Iceland and Spain.
After being inspired by a module that he undertook, Mathew decided to pursue a career in sustainability, which he now currently does on behalf of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, after studying both an undergraduate and a masters degree at Lancaster University.
Sarah loved the challenges of her MSc Volcanology and Geological Hazards Masters course at Lancaster, and is now studying for a PhD at Leeds University.
Lydia now works as Assistant Ecologist with Atkins Global. Amongst other activities, she conducts wildlife surveys and compiles reports for protected species.
Completing both BSc and PhD Geography, Rebecca now works as an Editorial Assistant for the Journal of Experimental Botany (JXB), a leading plant science journal based at Lancaster University.
After completing her MSc International Innovation (Environmental Science), Lucy works in communication and strategy for a Chinese NGO called The Shangri-La Institute.
Having completed both a Masters and PhD with LEC, Ally is now a Geography Lecturer. She continues her research and looks forward to future collaborations and teaching the fantastic students of LEC.
