Dr Emily Cooper is currently a human geography lecturer at Northumbria University, after completing her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in LEC.
I recently graduated in MSc Energy and the Environment from Lancaster University. During my Masters year, I was successful in securing an EMpower sponsored project with Nuclear New Build (NNB), part of EDF Energy in London. These projects offer the chance to spend three to five months with a company working in the nuclear industry.
Four years ago I left London to start a Master’s degree in Volcanology and Geological Hazards at the University of Lancaster. I am now preparing to defend my PhD thesis on ‘The thermo-mechanical effects of magma chambers and caldera faults’ at Royal Holloway, University of London and then in early 2016 begin a post-doctoral research assistant position in experimental rock deformation at University College London.
Helena spent hree months at the National Energy Foundation as part of the internship programme available through the Science and Technology Department.
