A new graphic ethnography/medical humanities project
Dr Emma Halliday (Health and Medicine) and Dr Natasa Lackovic (Educational Research) are collaborating on a pilot project funded mainly by NHS’ “Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLARHC)”, also supported by Lancaster University impact fund.
There are two strands of the project, each exploring community experiences of community action and change in their local communities and how these expereinces affect community sense of well-being and health. One strand adopts a graphic ethnography approach, whereas the other aims to present community stories via a mini-graphic novel format. The GNC is viewed not only as a medium of expression but it is also explored in terms of its affordances to support comunity knowledge development, well-being and greater cohesion and be the vehicle of evaluation.
Emma and Natasa are excited to work collaboratively with wonderful UK artists-authors, more information to come!
