The emotional health of a school goes beyond just the well-being of individuals. It can be seen as a cycle where stress coming into the system from outside affects the whole school, the team as a whole, individuals and then the pupils.
The good news is that we can make changes at all parts of this cycle to improve the wellbeing of staff and pupils:
- Organisational health: how the school leadership team supports the rest of the team via policies around well-being, workload, and work-life balance.
- Staff team: identifying shared values, and developing a wellbeing culture of mutual support.
- Individual: how individuals recognise stress triggers and use effective coping strategies.
- Pupil wellbeing: understanding pupil mental health and being emotionally available for support.
We provide
Our face-to-face training brings together staff from schools and colleges from around the county. Our training is engaging and fast-paced, but we also allow plenty of time for discussion and sharing of good practices between settings.
Our face-to-face training will provide information to help you understand and implement a compassion-focused approach to wellbeing in your setting, and promote this way of thinking in your leadership and staff teams.
Within the training session, you will engage in a number of practical activities with other attendees. These are intended to be ‘train the trainer’ activities that you can then use back in your settings to stimulate helpful discussions with your teams.
Through the school year, we will offer opportunities for virtual meet-ups with other school staff who have attended our well-being training. The aim of these sessions is to allow the sharing of advice, support and good practice, learning from each other about effective changes that people have implemented that have made a difference.

Following attendance at this session, we also offer the opportunity to come to regular peer support sessions with people from other schools who have completed the training. The aims of these sessions are to provide space to come together to discuss good practice, successes and challenges in implementing your ideas for supporting wellbeing in your setting.
