our activity summary
our outcomes and impact
At the end of each academic year we survey all staff who have worked with us over the year to ask for feedback on our work and the impacts that they have noticed on their own practice and on the wellbeing of their students and staff. Some key outcomes and impacts are summaried below.
SERVICE QUALITY ASSESSMENT
To ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery, we utilize the SERVQUAL framework, a widely recognized model for assessing service quality.
SERVQUAL is a multi-item scale used to measure user perceptions of service quality. It focuses on five key dimensions:
- Tangibles: The physical appearance of facilities and staff.
- Reliability: Consistent and dependable service delivery.
- Responsiveness: Willingness to help and provide timely assistance.
- Assurance: Knowledge and training of staff, their ability to inspire trust and confidence.
- Empathy: Individualized attention, care, and understanding shown towards service user needs.
Our self-assessment using the SERVQUAL framework is presented below, demonstrating our committment to providing the best quality service for Lancashire education staff.
If you would like to use this framework to assess the quality and acceptability of other external services that you may wish to engage with and commission for your staff or students, we have developed an assessment tool that you can download HERE.

We deliver our face-to-face training in a comfortable and high quality environment at Lancaster University, with excellent technical equipment and support. Our online training is delivered through a reliable platform (MS Teams) and we have reliable technical support for our online work.
Our training materials are professional-looking, well-designed, and easily accessible.
Training and consultation bookings are made through a reliable online platform, and our booking system can be accessed at any time. We schedule training and consultation sessions on the majority of weeks during school terms, and always begin sessions on time. In the event of LEHSS staff absence, another member of the team will cover training, consultations or other meetings if at all possible.
We aim to respond to all emails and inquiries within two working days. Although we are not an urgent/crisis service, we are happy to discuss urgent or unexpected needs in schools and colleges and will respond swiftly to discuss how we might provide timely intervention and support when needed.
The LEHSS clinical team consists of qualified and experienced clinical psychologists with doctoral level training and many years’ experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services. All clinical staff are professionally registered with the Health and Social Care Professions Council. LEHSS staff are trained in a range of evidence-based psychological approaches which we transfer into our training and consultations. As a university-based service we have access to the most up to date research and knowledge in our area, and all staff are required to keep their skills and knowledge up to date through regular CPD.
We maintain confidentiality and prioritize staff well-being.
We actively listen to education staff concerns and provide high-quality evidence-based training to support staff needs. All of our training topics have resulted from consultation and co-design with education staff based on training needs identified to us. In both training and consultation sessions we aim to create a safe and supportive environment for staff to share their experiences.

The Lancashire Emotional Health in Schools and Colleges service is dedicated to promoting mental and emotional well-being among students and staff in educational institutions across Lancashire. Our team of experienced professionals, work collaboratively to provide comprehensive support.
