East Malling to host global Horticulture Research Conference
The world’s leading plant scientists are set to gather for the Fourth International Horticulture Research Conference, taking place at NIAB EMR in East Malling, Kent, from 16th to 20th July 2017.
The Conference will bring together international researchers conducting fundamental research on horticultural crops, to showcase the latest research findings and to network with colleagues from around the world.
Abstract submission is now extended until 21st May 2017.
The International Horticulture Research Conference is jointly organised by Nanjing Agricultural University and NIAB EMR with support from the Springer Nature journal Horticulture Research. It will comprise of eight key sessions covering:
- Evolutionary biology and comparative genomics
- Flowering and environmental adaptation
- Fruit development, functional food and quality
- Genome engineering in horticultural crops
- Plant-microbe, insect and environment interactions
- Post-harvest biology
- Precision horticulture
- Root-shoot interactions and grafting
“The application of science to ever-increase our understanding of how and why plants work, has never been so exciting as it is today,” commented Dr Richard Harrison, NIAB EMR Department Head and Conference Co-ordinator, adding, “the speed of these advances highlights the essential nature of events, such as this Conference, to share knowledge and build new scientific partnerships for the future.”
The previous International Horticulture Research Conference was held in the Nanjing Province, China, in October 2016 and was attended by over 200 delegates from 10 countries.
