Welcome Week Glocal Walks at Lancaster University

Two Glocal Walks were delivered during Welcome Week, led by Dr. Sunita Abraham and Dr Chris Donaldson from Lancaster University. These walks were designed to introduce new students to Lancaster’s local history while linking it to wider global processes connected to empire, trade, labour and migration.

Participants were encouraged to reflect on how colonial histories continue to shape contemporary urban spaces and social relations, and to think critically about place, power and belonging within the city. The walks formed part of DLU’s ongoing commitment to place-based, public-facing decolonial education and student engagement.
