Glocal History Walking Tour: Decolonising Lancaster University (Open to All)

Thursday 2nd July | 1:00pm–3:00pm
Meeting point: Entrance to the John O’Gaunt Gate, Lancaster Castle

Join us for a guided Glocal History Walking Tour exploring Lancaster’s layered histories through a decolonial lens.

This public walking tour invites participants to reflect on the connections between local heritage and global histories, focusing on how Lancaster’s past is shaped by wider colonial and maritime networks. Walking through key sites around the city, we will explore stories that are often overlooked in mainstream historical narratives.

The tour begins at the entrance to the John O’Gaunt Gate at Lancaster Castle and will run from 1pm to 3pm.

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome to join and learn more about Lancaster’s complex history through a decolonial perspective.
