DLU and LU Sanctuary Online Panel Discussion
As part of Black History Month, DLU co-hosted an online panel discussion with LU Sanctuary focusing on decolonial approaches to museums, asylum and modern slavery. The panel brought together colleagues working across research, policy and community engagement.
Speakers included:
- Dr Joe Rigby (University of Chester, Sociology): Reimagining Kendal Museum’s ‘World Wildlife Gallery’ through decolonial dialogue
- Prof Victoria Canning (Lancaster University, Law): Addressing asylum harms through collaborative toolkit creation
- Dr Mahmoud Gad (Lancaster University, Accounting and Finance): From compliance to impact in modern slavery reporting
The session provided space for staff and students to engage with applied decolonial work and to discuss how research can inform practical interventions in social justice contexts.
