Join us for a special student-led panel discussion and Q&A session, organised by members of the postgraduate community in the History Department! The theme is representations of Black peoples in art throughout history. Inspired by works concerning silencing the past and the power of the archive – most notably, Toni Morrison’s formative discussion of the image in reconstructing a world; exploring a life that was not written; and revealing “a kind of truth” – students have devised Experiences Unseen: A Visual Archaeology of Black Lives (Morrison, ‘The Site of Memory’).
