Call for Proposals: LUMEN Blog Post

LUX: Undergraduate Journal of Literature and Culture is an undergraduate journal that welcomes work from Lancaster University’s FASS students. The LUMEN Blog offers a platform for students to submit and share original work that offers scholarly rigorous comment on areas of literature and culture relating to the blog’s theme.

While founded in the Department of English and Creative Writing, the journal is interdisciplinary and values contributions from students across all FASS departments.

The theme for this year is ‘chaos’.

Some possible topics that you may wish to explore include, but are not limited to:

  • Chaos in politics;
  • Philosophical theories of chaos;
  • Chaos in literature and/or film;
  • Essays on contemporary texts looking at the current social climate;
  • Creative work related to the idea of chaos;
  • Considering ‘chaos’ in certain historical contexts;
  • Artistic representations of ‘chaos’.

Submissions would compromise of:

  • Short critical essays (600-1000 words)
  • Or a short piece of creative work with a reflective commentary
