We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Innovation Fellow with experience of the research environment and connecting research with policy. The purpose of this role will be to work directly with all 36 of our Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded Envision students to improve their engagement with environmental science ‘end-users’ (i.e. business, public sector). You must be experienced in knowledge exchange between science and business.
The partnership is coordinated by LEC and recruits 12 PhD students per year over five years. You will support the Envision director in:
- improving Envision DTP students’ skills in engaging with user-led problems
- identifying specific opportunities for stakeholder engagement for existing students
- increasing visibility of NERC science with environmental industries
You will be based at Lancaster Environment Centre but will be required to travel frequently within the UK to partner institutions:
- Lancaster University
- Bangor University
- University of Nottingham
- Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
- British Geological Survey
- Rothamsted Research
Following a successful bid to NERC we have been granted additional funding to enhance the impact of existing Envision training, benefiting the students, end-users and society.
You should be educated to Master’s degree level or higher in environmental science (or a related discipline) and be experienced in carrying out research and interviews with a wide range of stakeholders and PhD students.
You will be self-motivated, have a strong interest in innovation and translating research into policy along with excellent communication and project management skills and the ability to deliver to targets and deadlines.
This is a full time, fixed term contract, starting as soon as possible and ending 31st March 2017.
