New World of Empire and Disorder? US, Russia, China, UK, EU & Global South Perspectives

The Decolonising Lancaster University Network, in collaboration with the School of Global Affairs and EVPI, invites Lancaster University colleagues and students to join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring whether we are witnessing the emergence of a ‘new’ age of Empire, and what this might mean in a world increasingly characterised by geopolitical disorder.

Bringing together diverse regional and global perspectives, our panel of academics will share short provocations examining shifting power dynamics across the US, Russia, China, the UK, the EU, and the Global South. The discussion will consider how contemporary forms of power, influence, and inequality intersect with longer histories of empire, and what this means for global futures.

Participants will be invited to reflect, respond, and engage in discussion.
