This section details our early work in Kingston-upon-Hull with children and young people affected by the huge 2007 UK floods: The Hull Children’s Flood Project (2007-10). This work, funded by the ESRC, shows that the children experienced different kinds of problems, particularly with recovery.
Our more recent work, the CUIDAR project: Cultures of Disaster Resilience Among Children and Young People (2015-18), was a Europe-wide project funded by the European Commission under its Horizon 2020 Programme. CUIDAR set out to enhance the resilience of children, young people and urban societies to disasters and to enable disaster responders to meet children and young people’s needs more effectively.
