The
PELiCAN Lab

Paediatric Listening, Cognition and Neuroscience

What do we research and why?

We explore how children’s ears and brains work together to hear and to listen. We assess how this changes when it’s noisy, for example, in a classroom. We also investigate if technology (e.g., hearing aids and assisted listening devices) change how children hear and listen.

How do we research these things?

A big goal of The PELiCAN Lab is to make auditory research child friendly. To do this we have a dedicated paediatric auditory lab where we use computer games and virtual reality alongside our neuroimaging techniques, such as EEG.

How can I get involved?

Whether you are a caregiver for a child with hearing or listening difficulties, an audiologist, teacher of the deaf or fellow researcher – we have something for you!
