Data analysis in 4 steps: Long description

Data Analysis: 4 step flowchart

Step 1: Listen to the audio data and prepare it for transcription and provide guidance notes for the transcriber.

Step 2: Read the written transcripts to look for emerging themes – i.e. issues or topics that occur across the data. Researchers do this individually and then together as a group, discussing initial findings and extracting key data from transcripts.

Step 3: Compare and connect the themes from the transcripts with the visual data.

Step 4: You can now start to identify flood stories, drawing out commonalities and differences in the data.
