FASS Careers Inspiration Day- Friday 15th March

FASS and Central Careers invite you to join us at our FASS Careers Inspiration Day!

Come along to hear about the career journeys of alumni and current students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Alumni and Interns will be joining us to share their inspirational stories, tell you where they work, how they secured their jobs, annd offer top tips.

Alumni have studied a range of subjects, from across FASS. They will give a talk, then will offer you chance to ask questions and talk to them one-to-one.

Panel sessions – all in Library Room C130
There are three different panel sessions running throughout the day.
Different alumni are attending all sessions, so you can attend one, two or all three panel sessions
There is further information about each of the panel sessions below.

  • 10am – 12noon
  • 12noon – 1pm
  • 2pm – 4pm
  • 4pm – 6pm

10am – 12noon Panel session
We will be joined by:

1pm – 2pm Enterprise Team – Freelancing, Consulting and Portfolio Working

We will be joined by:

  • Simon Harrison, Enterprise Programme Manager, Work in Progress, Lancaster University
  • Billy Callway (Computer Science), Film Producer, Live Suite Media

This session is for anyone with an interest in self-employment as a creative practitioner or producer, or as a specialist consultant, either on a full-time basis or as part of a portfolio of work activities.  Simon will introduce the activities and services available via the new Work in Progress studio on Alex Square, which support the development of the skills and mindsets necessary to survive and thrive in an constantly changing work environment.  Billy will share his own experience as a portfolio worker, balancing the demands of getting his creative start-up off the ground while undertaking a range of different work contracts.  Participants will take away practical tools to help them consider their personal value proposition based on their own skills, passions and experience.

2pm – 4pm Panel session
