The Dukes Theatre, Lancaster, Production department is looking for:
A Placement to work in our Costume Department. To work alongside our ‘Costume Dresser’ for our production of The Jungle Book – in Williamson Park.
The dresser assists the cast & company with costume changes/wig changes & headwear changes.
The hours are approximately 16:30 – 23:00 Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday as a day off. The summer job placement will run 18 July – 28 August.
It is essential that the candidate is a driver with full license & no endorsements. Ideally with 2 years driving experience.
Whist on the placement you will benefit from working with a professional theatre production team & gain experience of a skilled costume department.
Duties and Responsibilities Include
As a Dresser, you will be expected to:
- Assist the actors in performances with their costumes, including quick changes.
- Set out every part of each costume including accessories in the dressing rooms and other parts of the Theatre where costume changes are to occur.
- Attend technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals for the purpose of observing and learning dressing tracks and to be available to the actor/actors allocated to them on or off stage as appropriate.
- Dress male and female actors as allocated by the Head of Wardrobe before the performance.
- Deal with emergency repairs to costumes.
You will also work alongside Stage management & technical staff who together deliver all the production aspects of the show.
