The project’s work is divided into work packages:

  1. Revision of the Concept of Operations
  2. Demand Analysis
  3. Basic volume and sector design
  4. Sector configuration
  5. Validation
  6. Dissemination, exploitation and communications

The project’s PERT chart depicts the relationships between work packages and related (technical) outputs.

The project SMARTS is initiated with work package 2, which aims to refine the proposed concept of operations. This activity will also allow us to identify requirements and specifications for the SMARTS solution. The work package 2 output feeds into the basic volume design and the sector configuration work packages. These work packages also receive input from work package 3, i.e., the demand analysis work package that analyses and identifies demand patterns and scenarios. The overall SMARTS solution, which results from basic volume design and the sector configuration work packages, will be validated on realistic scenarios. Finally, the work package ‘exploitation, exploitation and dissemination’ has the objective of communicating and disseminating the results and facilitating the exploitation of the proposed solution.
