Successful Resilience Workshop: Synergy Between SMARTS and ISLAND Projects

On June 27, the SMARTS partner DLR organized a productive workshop on “Resilience in ATM” that brought together colleagues contributing to both the SMARTS and ISLAND projects. This event provided a valuable opportunity to foster collaboration and share insights on the crucial topic of resilience in air traffic management.
The workshop covered the following key points:
- Paradigm shift of Resilience
- Resilience vs. Robustness (in practice: Scale & Time)
- Types of resilience indicators
- What-ifs vs. what-else scenarios
- Resilience in SMARTS (local) vs. ISLAND (network)
An engaging Q&A session concluded the event, allowing participants to delve deeper into specific aspects of resilience and its practical applications within the SMARTS and ISLAND projects.
The insights gained from this workshop will continue to inform our ongoing discussions and research on resilience in air traffic management. We look forward to applying these learnings to further advance both the SMARTS and ISLAND projects.
