Registration Open: Join the SMARTS Final Dissemination Workshop
We are pleased to announce that the SMARTS project has successfully achieved Technology Readiness Level 2 (TRL2) and is now entering its final dissemination phase. To mark this milestone, we are hosting a dedicated workshop on 28 January to share our progress, methodologies, and final results with the aviation and ATM community.
We invite all interested stakeholders to join us—either in person at CRIDA in Madrid or virtually via our online platform.
What to Expect
This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the SMARTS concept, offering deep dives into the technical advancements achieved during the project. The agenda includes:
-
Project Showcase: A walkthrough of exercises performed in PUZZLE and RNEST.
-
Technical Deep Dives: Detailed presentations on key components, including the Basic Volume Algorithm, Clustering & Sector Profiling, and Sector Design & Configuration.
-
Interactive Discussion: A final wrap-up session to discuss the implications of these findings for the future of Air Traffic Management.
Key Conclusions & Project Impact
The SMARTS project has demonstrated significant potential to enhance overall ATM performance. Through our research and trials, we have validated that:
-
Tools like PUZZLE DCB and R-NEST are technically feasible and operationally valuable.
-
Integrated SMARTS models—from flow clustering to adaptive airspace structuring—can better align traffic patterns with airspace design.
-
Operational benefits include improved demand–capacity balancing, greater cost efficiency, reduced sector overloads, and more punctual, predictable operations.
Registration
Registration is mandatory for all participants. Whether you plan to attend in Madrid or connect remotely, please ensure you register to receive the venue details or the connection link.
We look forward to welcoming you in Madrid or online!
