We spoke to Trevor Duncan, GISMO Business Relations Officer, to find out more about his role and what inspired him to join the team.
What is your role in GISMO?
I am the Business Relations Officer for GISMO. My role is to engage with SME’s across the Cheshire & Warrington area and to raise the profile of Lancaster University.

Old, chatty, bald!
What inspired you to apply for this role?
The opportunity to nurture my ability to network in a constructive role for the benefit to Industry and the University and to take part in a project that will make a difference to the companies we help.
What qualifications do you hold?
PGCert in Professional Development, Master Shoe Repairer, Sports Medicine Therapist.
How long have you worked at Lancaster University (and in what roles)?
Hmm, get ready! I’ve worked at the University for around 12 years in various roles:
Administrator for the School of Computing and Communications, Postgraduate Admissions Coordinator, Administrator for the Alumni Department, Library Technician, Transport Coordinator for UK Student Recruitment, Administrator for STOR-I Doctoral Training Centre in Maths and Stats, Finance Officer for the Project Support Unit, Project Support Officer for the CUSP project in the School of Computing and Communications, and GISMO Business Relations Officer since March 2020.
What are you most looking forward to doing on the GISMO project?
The opportunity to meet many interesting people.
What is your greatest/proudest achievement (in or outside work)?
Not being of an academic mind, passing my PGCert was quite the achievement for me.
What are your hobbies and interests outside work?
DIY and house repairs (particularly when drilling a screw through a central heating pipe!). I also have an interest in CNC/Lazer machines and MIG welding, and I enjoy walking.
What do you eat for breakfast most days?
Coffee!!
