‘Moving the Fence: Migrants, COVID and New Obstacles to Healthcare’
By Tullio Prestileo, with response from Jess Potter

If you missed the keynote lecture from our second workshop on 17-18 June 2021, it is now available to watch again.

Dr Tullio Prestileo is Medical Director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at the Civic Hospital Benefratelli in Palermo, Sicily. Speaking in Italian (with subtitles in English) he describes his forefront involvement with delivering healthcare to those migrating across the Mediterranean, what he has discovered through research and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on these ongoing challenges.

Dr Jess Potter, an NHS consultant in respiratory medicine, researcher and campaigner on migrant access to healthcare in the UK, responds with reflections on her own experience and key questions on topics of human rights, creating change within healthcare settings and the paradoxical role of the state in both care and control.

Followed by further questions from the audience.
