GOLDEN ticket to improving crops? New paper from Tamara and Marjorie.

New paper out from Tamara and Marjorie in the Lundgren Lab, looking at the potential of GOLDEN2-LIKE transcription factors to aid in the engineering of improved crops.

GOLDEN2-LIKE (GLK) transcription factors are a hub for development. Signalling components from light, plastid retrograde signals, hormones and dark- or age-triggered senescence converge to antagonistically regulate GLKs' transcription and protein levels. In response, GLKs activate transcription of photosynthesis associated nuclear genes promoting chloroplast development and regulate transcription or interact with other transcription factors to promote seedling growth in light and prevent flowering and senescence.
