Important conference information

AMLaP 2017 is approaching fast, and we look forward to welcoming our delegates to Lancaster soon! If you are joining us for AMLaP 2017, please see below for important information about the event. We have also sent this information via email to all delegates.


The final programme is available on the website. In your delegate pack you will receive a B&W hardcopy version of the programme, but for the occasional flash of colour, please see the online version.


The conference is held in George Fox building on Lancaster University campus (see building “GFX” on the campus map). All talks, posters, refreshments and lunches, and wine reception will be held here. All catering is included in your registration.

On Thursday 7th September at 8.15am from outside Barker House Farm (where you get breakfast if you are staying in University campus accommodation, see “BHF” on campus map) our AMLaP volunteers will lead you to the conference venue.

Getting to and from Lancaster University

Please see this page for information on getting to Lancaster. Please note that trains do not run very late from Manchester airport to Lancaster – please see the National Rail website for information. Also, on Sunday morning there is work on the train line meaning that it will take some time to get to the airport on Sunday. We have set up an informal message board if you want to find a “buddy” to share a taxi to/from the airports to Lancaster, but we don’t take any responsibility for arrangements made through this board.


Please pick up your delegate packs from the Registration desk in the George Fox building, from 8am on Thursday 7th September. This Registration desk will be peopled at all coffee breaks and lunches on all days of the conference.


If you have booked University accommodation please follow their separate information on checking in.

Information for poster presenters

Poster boards are large enough to fit a landscape or a portrait poster in A0 size. You may put up your poster anytime during the day but it must be removed by the end of the day. Any posters left at the end of the day will be removed and placed in a large recycling bin. Please take your poster with you (or bring a ladder to retrieve it from the bin).

Information for paper presenters

Talks are scheduled for 15 minutes, plus 2-3 minutes for questions, and 2 minutes for swap over to the next speaker. There is a windows PC with Powerpoint that you may use, or you may plug in your own laptop. Please arrive at the Lecture Theatre 1 to upload your files at least 15 minutes before your session begins.

Social events

On Thursday 7th September there will be an evening wine reception with canapés (but don’t get your hopes up too high about those). On Friday 8th September, for those that have registered separately, there is the conference dinner at The Midland Hotel in Morecambe. Buses leave from outside University House on Lancaster University campus at 6:30pm sharp. AMLaP volunteers will walk from the conference venue to the buses at 615pm.

Dinner is arrival 7pm for 7.30pm. After the dinner, buses will bring you back to campus. *Please note the hotel cannot effectively distinguish a conference dinner from a wedding do, so requires us to provide a seating plan in advance of the dinner. Please visit the Registration desk to select your place. If you have not selected a seat by the end of the Thursday evening reception then we will assign a seat to you at random.*

Certificates of attendance

If you require a certificate of attendance, please send us an email to this email address with your title, name, affiliation, and any other information you require to be included on the certificate. We will get these to you after the conference finishes.
