Cele Otnes, Professor Emerita and Research Professor of Marketing, University of Illinois and Honorary Professor of Marketing at the University of Stirling

Cele Otnes is Professor Emerita and Research Professor of Marketing in the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Honorary Professor of Marketing at the University of Stirling. Her research primarily explores micro-,meso-, macro-, and marketplace-level consumption rituals, including gift giving, holidays, special occasions, and ritual-laden cultural institutions. Cele has published extensively in leading Marketing journals, including in the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Retailing and the Journal of Service Research. She is a recent co-editor with Russell W. Belk of the Handbook of Qualitative Research Methods in Marketing, and with Tina M. Lowrey of Rituals, Consumption, and Marketing: A Research Companion. She is an unabashed Britophile –and especially loves crumpets with blackcurrant jam.
