Place-based ecosystem activation – 2025 onwards

The I-Connect project continues to deliver lasting impact by connecting local stakeholders, influencing policy and practice, and fostering a more collaborative and resilient innovation ecosystem across the region. Building on this foundation, Powered by Place is a regional innovation initiative led by Lancaster University Management School and Groundswell Innovation that brings together businesses, public sector organisations, community groups, and civic leaders to explore how collaboration can drive sustainable and inclusive regional development. The initiative combines future scenario planning, ecosystem thinking, and practical innovation tools to help stakeholders envision alternative futures and translate ideas into action. By sharing local success stories, strengthening cross-sector relationships, and fostering a shared sense of purpose, Powered by Place supports stakeholders to move from strategic thinking to collective action. Through this work, the initiative aims to accelerate innovation, strengthen regional resilience, and contribute to a thriving, mission-driven future for Lancashire.
