In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the pause on face-to-face research activities, the research team developed an additional on-line project to expand and support the main study.
The Gynae Cancer Narratives On-Line Project continued to address the original research aim of understanding how radiotherapy impacts on social, personal and sexual lives, and to improve patient experiences of living with the social and personal impacts of radiotherapy. However, participation took place virtually, either online or by telephone, to observe the social distancing measures that were in place as part of the COVID-19 response.
Participant criteria were extended to include anyone who had radiotherapy treatment for gynaecological cancer at any time (rather than only within the past 6 months) so that experiences after treatment comes to an end were captured.
In addition, we also invited carers, family and friends who supported a loved one with a gynaecological cancer diagnosis to take part in the project.
