On Sunday (5th November) there is an excursion to Forton Services. The other two planned excursions have been cancelled due to low registration numbers.

A6/M6 and Forton Services (£40) Lunch not included
Professor Peter Merriman (author of Driving Spaces: A Historical Cultural Geography of the M1) will conduct a circular bus tour of the A6/M6 between Lancaster and Preston taking in the monument to the Preston By-Pass (Britain’s ‘first motorway’) and Forton Services with its iconic Grade II listed tower. This stop will include a short walk to a nearby motorway bridge for views. The trip will also include an illustrated talk. Delegates will have the opportunity to buy their own lunch at the newly refurbished restaurant with the view of the motorway.
