Advancing the boundaries of ecological urban systems

Researcher-entrepreneur Vincent Walsh will present his action-led PhD research on biological (vermiculture and forest) urban systems. The research is based in the Biospheric Foundation – an abandoned warehouse rebuilt as part indoor farm, part lab, part research centre, which featured in Manchester International Festival 2013. His research at MIRIAD was chosen as one of the 100 Big Ideas that will change the future by the Research Council UK.

Vincent is a co-chair of East Salford Communities Living Sustainable program, a 5 year investigation implementing complex urban infrastructure based on ecological economics.
