Boy A draws on the James Bulger case to tell the story of Jack, who was convicted alongside his friend Boy B of the brutal killing of a young girl. Recently released from custody under a new identity, Jack is trying to build a new life in the shadow of his past and a newspaper campaign to identify him.
The novel won 2004 John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and the 2005 Waverton Good Read Award. It is a compulsive harrowing read.
