This year Plastid Preview will once again be generously supported by The New Phytologist Trust.
With the tremendous donations and support from a range of organisations, Plastid Preview can continue to be a great opportunity for plastid biology Early Career Researchers to present and discuss their work with peers in a supporting environment.
With many thanks we’re happy to report that Plastid Preview will this year be supported in part by a donation from the Company of Biologists! Only through these donations and supporters can Plastid Preview continue to be a free meeting for Plant ECRs! Thanks! – The organisers.
We’re very grateful that the Society for Experimental Biology has just agreed to provide support for this years meeting.
It is only with the help of great supporters that Plastid Preview can be free to attend for ECRs.
We’re lucky with our location in Lancaster, with a historic city a few mins away from the university, and only a little further to Morecambe Bay. And perhaps the most well known attraction nearby, the beautiful Lake District, recently listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

Plastid Preview is an annual meeting for Early Career Researchers (ECRs), including PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, working in any area of chloroplast biology. The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for ECRs to meet and foster networks with their peer ECRs and some senior scientists.
Topics include photosynthesis, algal biofuels, food security and biotechnology, as well as fundamental research on plastid biology and biochemistry.
The two-day conference is FREE TO ATTEND and is aimed specifically at providing a welcoming environment for ECRs to present their work. There are typically 40-65 attendees and the quality of the talks is extremely high. Everyone is welcome to present either a talk or a poster, with talks being selected from the Abstracts.
This year’s Plastid Preview is being hosted by the Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, at the beginning of September 2018, starting Monday after lunch and finishing on Tuesday afternoon:
Monday, 3rd Sept (2-5 pm, followed by Conference Dinner)
Tuesday, 4th Sept (9 am – 4 pm)
Venue: Lancaster University Conference Centre
