About LAARG

Lancaster Asia Area Research Group is an open interdisciplinary reading and research support group with a focus on social issues pertaining to the broad area of Asia. This multidisciplinary group welcomes members from a wide range of disciplines including sociology, international relations, politics, health sciences, data science, economics and finances, management, geography and environmental studies, literature and linguistics. Our intention is to create links between those who have similar research interests as well as a shared space of intellectual communication.

Our activities include: reading groups, seminars with internal and external speakers, sharing of research expertise, work-in-progress workshops, cross-departmental and cross-institutional collaborations, and social events.
