Lancaster Arts is the University’s award-winning arts provider supporting cultural and artistic engagement at the highest level through a programme of internationally renowned contemporary theatre, dance, visual art and classical music.
As well as inviting the public to our campus-based performance spaces- the Nuffield Theatre, the Peter Scott Gallery and the Great Hall- we are proud to work with a range of arts partners across Lancashire, Cumbria and beyond.

Main Duties:

The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Lancaster Arts Marketing Manager to promote Lancaster Arts events and activities to the public, staff and students both on and off campus.

Main Duties include:

  • developing relationships with key society representatives, Faculty, LUSU and Colleges to encourage students to engage with the work and opportunities within Lancaster Arts
  • to contribute and enact creative ideas to promote Lancaster Arts events to students on and off campus
  • to take an active role on social media networks promoting Lancaster Arts events and opportunities
  • liaise with individual campus colleges and their associated JCR representatives to encourage new first year students to attend the events and generally create a wider awareness and knowledge about the work of Live at LICA
  • research relevant organisations/ societies/ groups that might be of interest in specific Lancaster Arts events and personally contact group leaders
  • distribute publicity materials across campus and into town
  • lead on the organisation of regular promotional stalls (i.e. in Alex Square) from booking the stall to ensuring volunteers staff the stall

Skills Required:

  • a clear understanding of Lancaster Arts, it’s offer and who it’s communicating to
  • a good communicator
  • enthusiastic
  • good working knowledge of Social Media to promote events
  • ability to work independently and to deadlines
  • confidence in approaching new people: students, staff and the public
  • confident and clear telephone skills
  • initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges

Important Dates:

  • Start date: 17th September 2018
  • End date: early December 2018
  • Application closing date: Sunday 2nd September at midnight

Important Information:

  • Rate of pay £8.78 per hour (including holiday pay)
  • Internship is for 140 hours in total
  • Working pattern: regular office ours and occasional evening and weekend work (10-14 hours per week overall)
  • Lancaster Arts is based in the Great Hall on campus
