Dr Marjorie R Lundgren– PI

Dr Lundgren is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow and Senior Research Fellow in Plant Environmental Physiology.

Research Staff

Tamara Hernandez-Verdeja – Tamara is a Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate in photosynthetic biotechnology. She is leading the C2 photosynthesis transformation effort in the UKRI C2 engineering programme.

Hattie Roberts – Hattie Roberts is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in plant physiology and anatomy starting. She leads the C2 photosynthesis phenotyping effort in the UKRI C2 engineering programme.

George Rumble – George is a Research Associate working on phenotyping C2 plants as part of the UKRI C2 engineering programme. He previously was a Masters Student in the lab and a Research Technician on the Rank Prize leaf structure – function project.

Dawn Worrall – Dawn is a research technician working on the C2 photosynthesis transformation effort as part of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project.

PhD Students

Alvaro Herrera Seller – Alvaro is working on engineering carboxysomes into plants. He is funded by a Lancaster University Faculty of Science and Technology studentship.

Catherine Walsh – Catherine is funded by a Waitrose CTP to study how the C2 photosynthetic pathway influences the yield and flavour consistency of salad rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia) cultivars.

Sophie Young – Sophie is interested in plant ecophysiology, specifically C4 photosynthesis. She is currently investigating why C4 photosynthesis is so rare in trees, and looking at the physiology of the only known C4 trees, found in the Hawaiian Euphorbia, through a PhD project funded by the Envision DTP.

Masters Students

Matthew Perkins – Matthew is developing molecular tools for the C2 crop Diplotaxis tenuifolia.

Kevin Martin – Kevin is studying how Tilia trees will cope with climate change.
