Group meetings on Tuesdays 10:00-11:00, in C36 Physics
Here’s the timetable of the talks for the current term.
Also, there are weekly condensed matter seminars at 3pm on Fridays, which will be interesting for anyone attending our group meetings. These are advertised internally.

Jose’ Alonso Castaneda – Thermodynamics of Weakly Measured Quantum Systems
Continuously monitored quantum systems are at the core of experimental physics today. We focus in defining fundamental quantities such a work and heat along individual quantum trajectories that are valid for coherent superposition of energy eigenstates .These quantities are then used to extend the first and second laws of stochastic thermodynamics to the quantum domain. As an example and possible future application, we illustrate our results with the case of a weakly measured driven two-level system and show how to distinguish between quantum work and heat contributions.
