Coastal Co-Art 潮声共语”中英双城艺术驻地项目由盘上海 PAN Shanghai 发起，联合英国兰卡斯特大学研究中心 ImaginationLancaster 及同济大学设计创意学院·生态与文化创新实验室共同开展，并获得英国文化教育协会“文化连线基金”（Connections Through Culture）项目支持。项目以海岸生态系统为线索，通过创意研究与艺术实践，推动上海与兰卡斯特之间的艺术合作，在跨文化语境中连接艺术、生态与社区。
Coastal Co-Art is a UK–China dual-site arts residency initiated by PAN Shanghai, in collaboration with ImaginationLancaster, the design research centre at Lancaster University, and the Ecology and Cultures Innovation Lab at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University. The project is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture grant programme. Taking coastal ecologies as its point of departure, the residency combines creative research and artistic practice to foster artistic exchange between Shanghai and Lancaster, connecting art, ecology, and community within a cross-cultural context.
At a time of accelerating climate change, coastal zones are becoming some of the most visible boundaries where human societies and natural systems interact. Coastal Co-Art takes place across two coastal sites, in Shanghai and Lancaster, bringing together artists, researchers, ecologists, and local communities to explore their connections through art as research, within environments shaped by tides, wind, sediment, and multispecies life.
In a historical moment shaped by conflict and divisions, we are inspired by the unifying movement of the tide, which brings us together through connection and collaboration.
The residencies ran between May and June in Shanghai (Chongming Island) and Lancaster (with a residential trip to Arnside village), but the artists started working together in January 2026, through a programme of montly training and sharing sessions.
