“o°Cean” is a mobile documentary delving into the profound impacts of climate change on the fragile marine ecosystems of Finland. In this poignant collaboration between Malaysian student filmmakers and Finnish Student, we hear the solemn narrative of a marine biologist unveils the intricate dance between climate change and our oceans.

Artist Statement

In o°Cean, I led the journey of exploration into the ocean’s ecosystem, driven by a deep passion for marine conservation. With invaluable support from my Finnish partner, we interviewed experts and captured stunning visuals to highlight the impacts of climate change. Together, we aim to inspire action and stewardship for our planet’s oceans.

Shum Poh Yee

Shum Poh Yee is an emerging student director with a passion for diverse storytelling. Born on 25 July 2000 in Ipoh, Shum combines hands-on experience with studies in Digital Film Production, Sunway University. Currently residing in Subang, she approach filmmaking with humility, eagerly working on upcoming projects that aim to share a sincere and relatable perspective.
