A Centre for Water Resilience

The Centre for Water Resilience is a coastal research, training and community facility located within the tidal landscape of Folkestone Harbour. Designed to respond to increasing challenges posed by sea level rise, coastal flooding and extreme weather events, the project brings together environmental research, emergency response training and public engagement under one roof. The building accommodates collaboration between organisations such as the RNLI and France’s SNSM, promoting the exchange of knowledge and skills across the English Channel. Constructed using low-carbon mass timber, the centre demonstrates resilient architecture that adapts to changing coastal conditions while supporting education, innovation and community preparedness.
