Folkestone Wellbeing & Education Centre
The project proposes a hybrid building at Folkestone Harbour, combining lifesaving infrastructure with wellbeing, water‑safety education and a new RNLI Station. It responds to climate‑driven coastal challenges, including extreme weather and rising sea levels, positioning the station as both a protective and educational asset that encourages long‑term behavioural change. Wellbeing forms the core programme, informed by research into Folkestone’s happiness, poverty and RNLI callouts linked to mental‑health crises. The building integrates communal, quiet and fitness spaces to support mental and physical health while strengthening connections to the outdoors.
