  1. This is posted on behalf of a fellow researcher (with her consent). The question relates to recruitment of participants from a health-related crowd funding website. It can be divided into (a) what is ethical best practice for recruiting participants form a social media site and, more importantly, (b), are there any extra ethical considerations which should be applied we recruit not from a social media site, but from a health-related crowd funding website (given that users will be coming to these sites for very different reasons than when visiting a social media site)???
