The Lancaster Media & Cultural Studies Research Group comprises staff and PhD researchers in the department of Sociology who research across a wide range of areas relating to media and culture. We adopt a critical approach to media research, committed to interrogating the relations between media, inequalities and social justice. Our interests are diverse but we are passionate about exploring how media and culture act to shape everyday lives, economies, political formations, public spheres, creative content and work, identities, and social realities. Aligned with Lancaster Sociology department’s interdisciplinary ethos, we work across the humanities and social sciences in order to track and probe the key transformations of media and culture and their impact upon our social lives.
