I made some good progress on my literature review after spending the day in the library, really happy for the easy and complete access to latest publications we have here in Lancaster!
This is the fourth teaching week for the dissertation session, which will last for ten weeks- the first five weeks are lectures-delivery and the other five weeks are surgery sessions during which you can consult questions. Each week, lectures will be delivered twice and last for four hours each. Although the lecture time is a bit long, the good aspect is that you do not have to go to the lecture theatre frequently when lectures are concentrated into two times a week.
Yesterday, we had a lab session that is designed to facilitate writing dissertation. Another lab session will be run a month later. The professor and the assistant will be there to help with the problems you encounter during the session. The times of having lab sessions are different, depending on the dissertation stream you choose.
This week our dissertation seminars focus on the management of datasets. We therefore learn how to learn commands to manage data and perform more advanced econometric analysis.
We are currently working on the literature review for our master thesis. To help us with this, the university is offering additional seminars on “what makes a good literature review?” – great support!
