Professor Harwin and Dr Alrouh gave presentations at a seminar “Disrupting the Care cases crisis” hosted by the Nuffield Foundation and Cafcass on February 23rd 2017. The purpose of the seminar was to address questions posed by Sir James Munby in his 15th View from the President’s Chambers.

The presentations covered questions on:-

• the number of children in the case, age and gender
• the use of different legal permanency orders
• repeat children
• understanding local variations (local authorities / DFJ areas) using funnel plots

An article, “New entrants and repeat children: stability and change over time”, is forthcoming in the April issue of Family Law. A second article will be forthcoming in the May issue on outcomes of supervision orders and special guardianship.
