The Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Act 2012 drastically changed how civil litigation was funded. Civil legal aid was reduced by £400m per year.

My research intends to look into this and identify some ways in which the issues that were caused by the cuts can be fixed and access to justice restored if not increased. There are many strands to the research including an online survey for legal professionals and members of the public as well as a focus group for legal professionals. If you are interested in any of these,  please look at the relevant pages on this website for more information.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of this research, please do not hesitate to email me –  s.j.osborne@lancaster.ac.uk.
