Track 1 5G Evolution

Valerio Frascolla

 

 

 

 

Dr. Valerio Frascolla is Director of Research and Innovation at Intel Corporation. He holds an MSc and a PhD in Electronic Engineering and had been working in different roles at Ancona University, Comneon, and Infineon. Valerio has expertise in mobile terminals system architecture, requirements management, standards bodies attendance (3GPP, ETSI, and IEEE), and project and program management. He serves as coach and mentor in Intel as well as in European projects (Fashion Fusion, WEARSustain), he acts as facilitator of innovation activities using agile methodologies (CSM- and CSPO-certified). Valerio is author of 60+ peer-reviewed publications, his main research interest is 5G system design, with focus on spectrum management, mmWaves and MEC technologies. Valerio currently participates to several international research projects serving as consortium lead for business, standardization, innovation and exploitation matters, and organizing special sessions, workshops and panels at international conferences (VTC, EUCNC, WCNC, EUCAP, EUSIPCO, COCORA, EWSN, DySPAN, and ISWCS).

Theodore(Tod) Sizer

Dr. Theodore(Tod) Sizer is VP of Smart Optical Fabric and Device Research in Nokia Bell Labs, leading teams innovating in all aspects of system and device optical solutions for core, submarine, and data center communications.  Prior to his current role, Tod lead Wireless Research in Nokia Bell Labs for many years driving the vision and research of 5G. Tod graduated from Amherst College, and received his Masters and Doctorate in Optics from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester.   In 2012 he received the Popular Science Breakthrough Innovation award for the lightRadio invention.  Tod is a Fellow of Bell Labs, WWRF, and IEEE.  He is the author of 54 US patents and is a member of the IEEE and OSA.
