Evidence shows that good relationships \u2013 with family, friends and our wider communities, including in the workplace \u2013 are important for our mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>If you have good mental wellbeing you are able to:-<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li>Feel relatively confident in yourself and have positive self esteem<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain good relationships with others<\/li>\n<li>Feel engaged with the world around you<\/li>\n<li>Live and work productively<\/li>\n<li>Cope with the stresses of daily life<\/li>\n<li>Adopt and manage in times of change and uncertainty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By providing spaces to maintain and improve wellbeing we can foster the confident, engaged, resilient and productive staff and students needed to (fulfil, tackle, work towards) our Department vision to carry out outstanding research, teaching and learning that is engaged with key actors and groups and addresses global challenges related to social inequalities and climate emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Sociology has an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Director, <a href=\"mailto:a.cronin@lancaster.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Anne Cronin<\/a>, and a Mental Health and Wellbeing Ambassador, <a href=\"mailto:s.malik9@lancaster.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shehzad Malik<\/a> to communicate and promote the department\u2019s efforts and liaise with faculty wide wellbeing champions.
