By Taxi: Once in Lancaster you can get a taxi from the rail or bus stations to the Lancaster University Campus. This should take around 15 minutes.

By air: Manchester Airport is the closest airport to Lancaster, and is easy to travel to Lancaster from. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is also relatively close, but involves more changes when traveling to Lancaster by public transport. 

From Manchester Airport there are regular direct trains to Lancaster, taking around 1hr 15min to 30min. A return ticket should be around £36. From the train station you can take a taxi or bus to the campus, which should take between 15-30min.

If you hire a car and are traveling from Manchester International Airport take the M56 motorway at junction 5 and join the M6 motorway at junction 20 (north); then follow the directions by car below. Journey time should be around 1 hour. 

From Liverpool John Lennon Airport you should take a bus (80A or 86A) to Liverpool South Parkway railway station, and then a train to Liverpool Lime Street railway station. From there you get a train to Preston or Wigan North Western, from which you can get a train to Lancaster. Avoid travelling to Lancaster via Warrington as there is a walk between stations. 

By Rail: There are direct rail links between Lancaster and London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Edinburgh and Glasgow. See National Railway timetables or trainline to plan your journey. Taxis are available from outside the station, or you can get the bus (4 or 4X) to campus. Lancaster Railway Station is a 5 minute walk away from the city centre, where additional busses (1, 1A, 100, 4, 42) go from Common Garden street to campus (make sure you do not go towards Heysham). 

By Bus: The Lancaster bus station is situated on Damside Street, and buses depart regularly for Lancaster University. For bus information visit Stagecoach. Return fare from Lancaster city centre to the university is approximately £3.6 (single ticket £2) and journey time is about 20 minutes. 

Buses (1, 1A, 100, 4, 42) leave regularly (every 5 minutes on weekdays) for the 20 minute journey to the University. Buses also leave the city centre at Common Garden Street for the University. All buses drop off at the University underpass road in the centre of campus. 

By coach: You can get to Lancaster by Megabus, traveling from Glasgow (~3 hours), Edinburgh (~5hours), London (~7 hours) or Birmingham (~4 hours). These coaches stop at the Lancaster University underpass. 

By car: Leave the M6 motorway at junction 33 and take the A6 north towards Lancaster. For Lancaster University main campus – turn right at the third set of traffic lights on the A6 into the University main drive. Take the first exit left from the roundabout at the top of the main drive, then the first avenue on your right. This brings you to the Reception Lodge where security staff will direct you to your destination on campus. For Alexandra Park (including Cartmel College) – turn right at the second set of traffic lights on the A6 into Barkers Drive and turn left at the roundabout into Alexandra Park Drive. 

Parking at Lancaster University: Please check visitor parking policy. Note that the parking is cash-less. A car parking permit (if needed) is included in the registration fee.
