{"id":93,"date":"2023-02-14T19:41:03","date_gmt":"2023-02-14T19:41:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/tictac\/?page_id=93"},"modified":"2023-07-14T12:27:47","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T12:27:47","slug":"collaborate-with-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/tictac\/collaborate-with-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaborate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\"><strong>What do we do?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">TICTAC focuses on exploring how to better support the learning process by using technology by investigating the opportunities and challenges to use digital artefacts to design cross-curricular experiences for transversal skills learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">We have several projects that are running at the moment that we could deliver in schools or engage parents and children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\"><strong>What\u2019s our approach?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">Our approach is grounded on mapping the technology into activities that aim at (1) the development of a critical thinking mindset, (2) supporting learning and teaching of cross-curriculum subjects and soft skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">The use of technology for designing activities that can train children to develop a critical thinking mindset can lead to:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 be independent thinkers,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 have more agency over the learning process but also as a citizen,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 be more engaged in the learning experience by bringing their own interests (e.g. climate change)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 be more aware of consumers and producers of digital media and artefacts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">We aim at facilitating cross-curriculum subjects learning by:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 Integrating different subjects into one complete activity<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 Harmonizing the learning objectives<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">\u2022 Address cross-curricular experiences for transversal skills learning<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\"><strong>What projects do we currently have?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">At the moment we have three types of activities, we will provide the technology and the technical support:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">1. Computational thinking with micro:bit and microcode<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">2. Critical thinking for understanding AI and robotics<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">3. Facing gender stereotype with digital storytelling<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">In terms of educational benefits, these activities lead to many goals of the national curriculum as for example:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">Computing: use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable\/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">Design and technology: \u00a0develop the creative, technical, and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world, critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">Relationships education (RSE): working in teams will challenge their ability of collaborating and socialise, understand the importance of equality and respect<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica\">English: Spoken language, use discussion in order to elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do we do?
