Welcome to STARS Cohort 3
STARS welcomed its third cohort of students recently at a three day welcome event held at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden. Having been fortunate in being awarded an additional seven students through the NERC National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF), this cohort is the largest yet at 18 students. All 18 made it to the event, despite some long journeys, with students based throughout the UK from Devon to Aberdeenshire. Many of their supervisors were able to attend with them.
The students and supervisors were brought together through a series of activities designed to build a sense of cohesion within the cohort and to establish good student/supervisor relationships. In addition to all working together, the students were given time to meet some of the STARS cohort 1 & 2 students, while the supervisors were engaged in supervisor training sessions.
Our hosts at Rothamsted provided an inspirational location and included tours of their long running experimental sites and research facility.
